Frequently Asked Questions

The term MOOC stands for "Massive Open Online Course". Our MOOCs offer, in addition to the traditional courses to read or watch:

  • community features that stimulate interactions (forum)
  • content creation tools that facilitate participant production (wiki, blog, resource-sharing spaces, etc.),
  • mechanisms that encourage the practice of activities and learner autonomy. You won't be bored studying alone in your corner; instead, you will take part in a MOOC that will give you a unique experience that is fun, convivial and motivating!

Anyone can take a MOOC: MOOCs are open to all! You simply need to register.

No, the MOOCs offered on the MOOC Campus AFD platform are free of charge.

The term SPOC stands for "Small Private Online Course". Unlike a MOOC, a SPOC is tutored and very often accompanied by virtual classrooms and collaborative work. A selection process may take place and cohorts do not exceed 100 to 150 registered participants per session, unlike MOOCs which can reach several thousand registered participants.

To take a MOOC, you will need a computer, a tablet or a smartphone with an internet connection.

It is recommended to use the latest versions of browsers.

First register on the MOOC Campus AFD platform to create an account. Registration allows you to become a member and follow all the MOOCs on offer.
Once your account has been created, simply click on the "Register" button of the MOOC you are interested in to join it.

There is generally a registration deadline. MOOCs are first opened in their facilitated version, with proposed activities and the presence of facilitators. Some MOOCs may remain available as a self-paced course, that is to say without the presence of facilitators and without access to discussion forums.

Anyone can follow this course.

Whatever your age, your computer equipment, your use of the internet... you are welcome. The courses are accessible to all, regardless of your level of knowledge.

The weekly workload depends on each MOOC. In general, it is between 2 and 3 hours per week. To find out, visit the information page for each MOOC.

The course is accessible 24 hours a day: you do not need to be available on a specific day or at a specific time. There is no teacher speaking to a class, but recorded videos and resources to consult whenever you wish. You can therefore follow the MOOC in the evening after work, at weekends... and consult the resources as often as you like.

MOOCs are divided into sequences. During these sequences, you have the opportunity to learn through the content provided by experts (reading, video, audio, external resources, websites, etc.). You can also test yourself and earn badges attesting to your achievements.

When it is a facilitated MOOC, you can:

  • exchange with other learners and experts on the forums
  • share the resources you have created as part of the requested activities
  • carry out activities alone or in collaboration with your peers to put your learning into practice
  • participate in virtual classes or webinars

It is recommended that you complete the MOOC in its entirety; however, you are free to follow and complete all or part of the MOOC according to the time you have available and your needs.

To track your progress in the MOOC, you have a progress bar that shows in % what you have completed. This bar is visible on your dashboard.

No, progress measures your advancement in the MOOC and not your success in the MOOC, which is measured by earning the knowledge badges offered by the MOOC. You can therefore successfully earn all the offered badges and have a progress bar of less than 100% if you have not validated all the content and activities proposed in the MOOC. Conversely, you can have a progress bar at 100% if you have validated all the content and activities of the MOOC, but still not have earned any badges if your scores are below the minimum required to obtain the certificate.

Are you struggling to understand a concept or complete a task? Use the forum, where learners can help you by exchanging ideas. You can also send an email to bekkersc@afd.fr

A badge is a digital proof that you receive each time you successfully complete an assessment in a MOOC. We offer knowledge badges that attest to your success in a quiz.

You can find your MOOCs and earned badges from your dashboard.
